Tarrytown-Sleepy Hollow Human Rights Action (TASHRIA) is a community activist group dedicated to promoting, protecting and defending equity and diversity in the the Villages of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow, New York.
While not a formal advisory body to either village government, the group petitioned the Tarrytown Board of Trustees in late 2020 to create a Human Rights Commission (or Advisory Committee) in accordance with Article 12-D of New York State Municipal Law.
The group was also a chief organizer and sponsor of the first-ever Greenburgh Pride rally and gathering, which took place at Patriots Park in Tarrytown in the summer of 2021.
TASHRIA – which is open to Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow residents, as well as those of surrounding communities – engages in work within the following working groups:
1) Steering Committee
2) Youth Council
3) Justice Committee
4) Education Committee
5) Accessibility Council
6) LGBTQ Working Group
